The ThinkTime 30-Minute Screen-Free Challenge

Can You Give Your Brain 30 Minutes?

The ThinkTime 30-Minute Screen-Free Challenge encourages children and families to set aside a short period after school for activities that do not require a phone, television, tablet, computer, or video game.

For just 30 minutes, children choose a screen-free activity that makes them think, create, build, solve, read, write, or imagine.

Choose Your Challenge

Children might spend their 30 minutes:

  • Completing one of our printable brain challenges

  • Solving a puzzle

  • Drawing or designing something

  • Building something from household materials

  • Reading a book

  • Writing a short story

  • Creating their own board game

  • Completing a logic challenge

  • Making a paper creation

  • Inventing something

  • Journaling

  • Planning a small project

  • Playing a strategy game with family members

The ThinkTime Challenge Calendar

Families can download our printable 30-Minute ThinkTime Challenge Calendar and mark each day that a child completes the challenge.

7 Days — Brain Starter

14 Days — Focus Builder

21 Days — Thinking Explorer

30 Days — ThinkTime Champion

The purpose is not perfection.

Some days will naturally include more screen time than others. The challenge simply helps families intentionally create small spaces in the week for children to use their minds in different ways.

Start Small. Build a Habit.

Thirty minutes may seem small, but building habits often starts with manageable steps.

Put the screen away.

Pick an activity.
